Елена посвящала все свое время семье, но ни муж, ни мать ее стараний не оценили. А когда в ее жизни появляется освободившаяся из тюрьмы младшая сестра, стало еще хуже. С детства избалованная, не приспособленная к жизни и изворотливая Рита решает окончательно «отравить» жизнь Елене, всячески настраивая против нее детей. Это оборачивается очередной трагедией и настолько усугубляет взаимоотношения в кругу семьи, что женщина решает свести счеты с жизнью. Именно в этот момент ее спасает незнакомец по имени Михаил и предлагает сделку — устроиться в фирму его давнего конкурента по бизнесу. Елена соглашается, даже не подозревая, чем для нее обернется эта работа.
