咲の所属するソフトボール部が地区予選に参加することになった。しかし相手は強豪の黒潮中学。咲は自信なさげな部員たちを励ましながら試合に挑むが、気持ちだけで何とかなるほど勝負の世界は甘くない。相手投手のボールは速すぎてバットにかすりもせず、逆にピッチャー咲は痛打を浴び、あっさりと先制点を奪われてしまう。次第に意気消沈してゆく咲と仲間たち。そんな彼女たちに打開策を授けたのは、試合の様子をスケッチしていた舞だった。
